Principal's Report

Tim Furphy, Principal

Welcome to Term 4 everyone, an eleven week term that's sure to be busy! A big shout out to Ted Tolfree and Chris Wiseman for a day in the holidays cleaning/painting the kids bathrooms at school. Also thanks to Justin Hughes for popping by for some electrical works. We're lucky to have people happy to pitch in around the school!

I understand this time of year can be anxious for some, whether that's moving to high school next year, moving on from NPS or just wondering about class structure/teaching staff in 2026. We are currently working through this process and as you can appreciate, there are many moving parts to all these things within a small school environment. Please be patient while we get this finalised. Rest assured, we want the best for all our students!!!!!

PARENT OPINION SURVEY

Thoughout last term our parent opinion survey concluded, we have reflected on this as a staff and hope to bring some new information to you all. We hear you want to know more about assessment, classroom learning and information to support learning at home. We've added a section to the newsletter for parents to explore how we do things at NPS, check out "The NPS Way".

Some highlights of the survey:   (% of positive responses)

  • I feel comfortable about approaching this school with any concerns (95% )
  • NPS always aims to improve the quality of education it provides (100% )
  • I feel confident that NPS provides a good standard of education for my child (90%)
  • This school celebrates student achievements in all areas (100%)
  • Teachers are enthusiastic and positive about teaching (95%)
  • My child feels accepted by other students at school (100%)

BIKE ED

A permission slip has been sent out on Compass for Bike Ed this term, with a whole school excursion to Bike Skills in Bentleigh on November 10th. We heard the challenges of arranging bike pick up/drop off over consecutive weeks, this takes the stress completely away. They have all the equipment we need, so you don't have to bring a thing (except a snack, drink bottle and lunch). Please be ready to jump on the bus at 8:15am to allow time to cross the city in busy traffic.

FREE TO GOOD HOME

Please see below scrap metal and wood pallets to be taken by any of our community. We will be organsining recycling of these in a fortnights time if not taken. Pallets are behind the skip in the carpark,  metal is behind the sports shed (access via oval). First in best dressed!
