Principal's News

Journeying Together in Christ

We say THANK YOU to Fr Joe Taylor, our Parish Priest. We wish him all the best in retirement. We may see him about the region of a weekend celebrating mass. My simple reflection of Fr Joe: "He is a modern-day disciple of Jesus".

(See the RE page for a reflection)

Principal Announcement

On Wednesday 15 September Kate Fogarty (Executive Director, Catholic Education Sandhurst Ltd) announced changes for St Luke's. This letter was emailed to all families at 4:00pm 15 September.

I am in my tenth year at St Luke's as Principal, and it was not easy communicating the message to a staff I love working with. If I could choose a time to depart for a little over a year, it would be now knowing the school has a great leadership team and staff to continue the St Luke's journey. Jen McKillop is a fine leader, and I am confident she will successfully transition into the role and continue leading staff as she does in her present role as DP.

Classroom Mastery

We had a representative visit to observe staff on Wednesday 10 September. Most teachers/students were observed on exit/entry routines and some on delivering the curriculum. CM will return in term 4 for a second drop-in day.

TERM 4 sees more professional learning for staff to support the growth of skills in delivering a robust curriculum.

Further development in writing and spelling is on our Term 4 agenda.

Change in Morning Supervision Time

From the beginning of Term 4, Monday 6 October, supervision by staff will return to 8:30am. We now have the option available for before school care from 7:00am-9:00am. The gates will be closed until 8:30am. This will give you the next three weeks to make any booking or arrangements with Uniting Care. Please contact Uniting for information and costs.

Vacation Care

ENROLMENTS 2026

If existing families have someone starting school in 2026, please ask the office staff for an application pack.  We will start interviews in the coming weeks. These should not be a stressful time. It helps us with planning for their orientation days and 2026.

THANKYOU PARENTS

Our committee for the School Fair continues to work behind the scenes in preparation for a FAIR on Friday 28 November. Our next meeting is on Tuesday 7 October at 7pm in the school staff room. We will address the Fair as the first agenda item and people can leave or stay for the reminder of the Community Group meeting.

Parents coordinated and assisted at the Bunnings BBQ on Saturday 6 September and provided Hot Dogs for the students on Thursday's Footy Colours Day. A huge thank you to all who assisted.

Father's Day Breakfast

This was very well attended and a simple way to bring people together. Thank you for attending, and to the staff for cooking and coordinating the morning.

LUNCH ORDER- HIGGINS Bakery

There are NO lunch orders on Friday 10 October.

Uniform

We transition into the summer uniform when we return. If it is cold, please dress your child accordingly. Hats are highly encouraged all year, and even more so when we return on Monday 6 October.

During the holidays we have vacation care present and our oval will have its annual scarifying, chemical application and fertilising completed. If you are visiting, please be aware that there may be signage for areas out of use.

Enjoy the term holidays and if you follow AFL, all the best to the Pies, Hawks, Cats and Lions.
