In Foundation, we are investigating how plants grow in different climates and growing conditions. The grass cups are dotted around the school. Chosen locations include: in a cupboard without light, in minimal soil, in sand, in front of a heater, in a refrigerator overnight and unloved and unwatered on a shelf. To celebrate our learning, we will be painting a flower pot for home.
In, 3/4 we are learning to identify different types of clouds, the different formations, altitudes, weather or change of weather they indicate. Some cloud types we have been exploring include; cumulus, cirrus, stratus and nimbus. This week, we will be creating posters of the different clouds on our painted backgrounds.
In 5/6, we have investigated the countries of origin and international miles different food products travel to arrive in our supermarkets. This week, we calculated how many trees would need to be planted to offset the carbon impact for each distance and overall total food importation. We considered what actions we could take as consumers to reduce the climate impact our shopping habits can have and how these choices could positively influence Australian society.
