Williamstown Campus  News

This term, several classes have been enjoying their learning in the STEM building. We're in the process of finalising new furniture and relocating additional STEM resources into the space to support student learning. We'll keep you updated as this exciting transformation continues.

Around the campus, minor rectification works have been taking place, including repairs to the basketball courts. In addition, major works on the gymnasium are scheduled to commence shortly.

Our Fitness Centre fit-out is also nearing completion. We're excited to announce that our High Performance Tennis students will be among the first to use the new facilities in the coming weeks!

Events and Celebrations

The term continues to be a busy one with a number of exciting events and opportunities.

Please ensure event consent and payments are made via Compass well before the event closing dates to avoid missing out.

Congratulations to all students involved in our recent College Production,"What's on the Box." Whether on stage, behind the scenes, or in the band – your commitment and talent were truly commendable!

Money Talk

Last week our students engaged in “Talk Money” workshops. Each workshop is tailored to suit different year levels.  Year 7s explored spending and saving choices, how decisions now can affect future finances and how conscious consumers can positively impact people and the planet. Students learnt about influences on saving, spending and payment options, and develop strategies to achieve their goals.

Year 8s looked at tools to help them recognise scam red flags and stay safe online. Students explored the common elements of different types of scams. They understood how to protect themselves and respond to scams, including seeking help. Year 9s explored ways to make money, and how earning money in line with values and life goals can help build future financial independence. Students learnt practical skills including navigating the workplace, reading payslips, pay rates and managing tax and superannuation.

Harmony Day

Our campus celebrated Harmony Day this week.  Victoria is known for its multiculturalism and cultural diversity is one of Victoria’s greatest assets.

Schools play a critical role in strengthening multicultural inclusion in our community by providing an environment where acceptance of diversity, knowledge of other cultures and an understanding of global and local issues can be developed.  Our SRC and Youth Change Makers Team planned and delivered activities for the day.  Year 9 student Jantira, of the Dja Dja Wurrung people, delivered the acknowledgement of country at our Harmony Day assembly.

At lunch students enjoyed pizza and ice-cream and our Year 8's made sushi with Ms Matsuzaki. A big thank you to Hobson’s Bay Youth Services for sponsoring and supporting the day.
