Reading is Magic

This year's celebration of Children's Book Week marks the 80th anniversary of the event, which is organised by The Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA). The theme for 2025 is "Book an Adventure!".

On Monday, we began the week at OHR with a special Book Week Assembly where the students were encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character.

Well done to our Grade 6 Arts/Library Leaders - Ariel, Ben & Teddy who did a fantastic job planning and leading this assembly. They were ably supported by the Year 5 Arts/Library Portfolio Team from both Semester 1 and 2 - Arabella, Sia, Noah, Edward, Oliver F, Bandgi and Emily.

On Wednesday, our Year 6's launched their picture book creations at a very special breakfast to which their family members were invited.  During OHR Book Week and the following week they will share their picture books with classes throughout our school; the students will also visit local kindergartens for public readings of their books.

Throughout the week, the Library has also been open at lunchtime each day for different classes to partake in some Book Week themed activities.
