STAGE 2 NEWS

Last week four Stage 2 students participated in a two day Film Makers workshop that was planned to be held at Thalgarrah however, due to our weekend of snow this workshop was moved to Sandon Public School. The workshop was led by filming experts from the Department of Education Arts Unit. The students worked on creating a documentary using the features of WeVideo and had the opportunity to work with students from a number of schools within the Armidale area.

This week the children have finished their bushranger interviews. They planned questions, wrote scripts and recorded their interviews in character using GoogleVideo. We were impressed with how well they planned their interviews and solved problems in the filming process. Many children even embraced their bushranger character by changing their voice, appearance and movements. We have included one video for you to view. What a huge effort Stage 2 - you should be very proud!

Recently we completed a unit of work in maths on position and mapping. We learnt about how to use and read a compass and then combined this knowledge with technology. The photos and videos explain how we coded a set of directions for our bee bot to reach the flower.

Over the past couple of weeks, Stage 2 have been enjoying gymnastics sessions with Mr O’Hara. The children are such active participants, working on their flexibility and developing better strength. They are taking the opportunity to develop new skills and get out of their comfort zones with a positive attitude (which you can see in the photos underneath). Keep up the great work Stage 2!

The ‘Evening with ACOS’ concert is fast approaching on the night of Thursday 28th August! This week we had our dress rehearsal. The students all ‘looked the part’ and enjoyed performing in character. A note about stage makeup will go home shortly with some photographs and a video to help with this process. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents and family members for their support of this event. Whether it be buying costumes, encouraging children to practise at home, buying tickets to the performance or applying makeup, it is very much appreciated. Please keep an eye on School Bytes as the coming weeks will be very busy!

Thanks for support
