Level One

Schwerkolt Cottage
On Thursday the 4th of September Level 1 had the exciting opportunity to visit Schwerkolt Cottage. The bus ride was full of songs and our bus driver Larry played some of our favourite songs for us!
When we got to the cottage we divided into groups to explore the cottage grounds.
Kerri-Anne showed us the museum where they had a lot of old and different items! We got to see an old doll house and other old inventions like telephones, cameras and irons. It was interesting to see how different the items were to what we use today.
Liz showed us inside Schwerkolt Cottage which is 145 years old! We saw how people used to live a long time ago. It was funny to see all the old items that they used to use in the cottage like the old butter churn! We also got to do some sketches of the different types of nature we saw that surrounded the cottage!
We also played some old games with hula hoops, quoits. We learnt that children used to only play outside and had simple toys to play with! Ms. White taught us lots of different games to play, especially with hula hoops!
and visited the other buildings nearby like the Smithy and Smoke house. It was interesting and fun to see how people used to live in the past.
"I liked seeing the old cat paw-prints on the old cottage bricks." Ivy, 1M
"I loved visiting the kids room in the cottage! There were so many toys!" Ellie, 1M
"When we saw the Smithy it was really old and dusty!" Artia, 1M
Mathematics
This term in Mathematics, the Level One students have been learning how to make equal groups and share items to build their understanding of multiplication and division.
