Book Week

It has been such an exciting time for grade 2!

This week, our students have celebrated Book Week! We enjoyed visiting our Book Week display in Room 6 with their classes and listening to stories. The children had the chance to come to school dressed in their very own book day costumes. What an amazing effort, well done everyone!

The children had a fantastic time taking part in the ‘Book Scavenger Hunt’ around the school. Grade 2 were a brilliant audience for our Book Week show, “Treasure Hunt”. Our students have also worked hard on their colouring competition entries. Well done to everyone who took part!

Reading

Grade 2 have continued reading our year group novel – ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’. In the story, we enjoyed reading all about what happened to our characters. It has been wonderful to see how enthusiastic the children have been with their reading. Grade 2 have been able to demonstrate their understanding of the text so far and predict what will happen next…

Writing

In writing, we’ve kicked off our focus on persuasive writing. It has been great to see our learners apply their understanding of the features of persuasive text from previous learning in comprehension lessons and consolidate these skills through their writing. Our learners have been able to enhance their persuasive writing by swapping low modality words with high modality words. Well done grade 2!

Maths

In maths and numeracy, the children have been focusing on 3-digit addition. Our learners have done an excellent job at using their knowledge and understanding of addition with 2-digit numbers and applying their skills to solve trickier equations. Grade 2 have also focused on collecting and sorting categorical data. Our learners have successfully explored this area of learning by gathering data based on familiar topics. We have enjoyed collecting and presenting data based on our favourite food!

Well done on all your hard work and enthusiasm grade 2, we are so pleased with the progress you are making. Keep up the good work!
