Middle Learning Community

As we begin our new school year, the grade 3-6 students are reviewing their Cyber Smart knowledge. As the digital world constantly evolves and grows, it has become more important than ever to educate the students (and ourselves) about the importance of cyber safety, or as we say at school, being "Cyber Smart".

The grade 3/4 students are working through a program called Mighty Heroes developed by the Office of the eSafety Commissioner. Each week, they are focusing on a different aspect of cybersafety that is age-appropriate and engaging.

This week, the focus is "Responsibility" with Wanda the echidna!

The grade 5/6 students are working through a program called #GameOn, developed by the Office of the eSafety Commissioner. The five-part series encourages students to use and enjoy online experiences while still keeping themselves safe. The series tracks the online behaviour of schoolmatesGrace, Bianca, Claudia, Joel, Ryan, Dean and Ollie. The series allows students to discuss their online lives by examining the online lives of the #GameOn characters.

The students have already been very open and honest about their use of technology, and we hope that by learning about different scenarios, both the good and the bad, that they will become well-rounded digital citizens.
