"Do you think things always have an explanation?" "Yes, I believe they do. But I think that with our human limitations, we're not always able to understand the explanation. But you see, Meg, just because we don't understand doesn't mean that the explanation doesn't exist." -- A wrinkle in time by Madeleine L'Engle

Keeping our school books safe and clean

Our school books help us learn, imagine and explore new ideas every day. To make sure everyone can enjoy them, we need to take extra care of them — especially keeping them safe from water and food. Even a tiny bit of moisture from a water bottle or damp lunchbox can seriously damage a book. Unfortunately, books cannot usually be repaired once they get wet. Moisture can cause pages to wrinkle, stick together, and even grow black mould, which means the book may no longer be safe or usable. Food can also cause permanent damage. Crumbs, sticky fingers, and spills stain pages and attract pests. Once food gets into a book, it is almost impossible to clean properly.

To protect our books:

  • Please make sure your child brings their books to school in a waterproof bag.
  • Keep water bottles tightly sealed and stored separately from books.
  • Do not eat or drink while reading or handling school books.
  • Wash hands before reading.

By taking these simple steps, we can keep our books in great condition for  everyone to use and enjoy.  Thank you for helping us look after our learning resources!
