Principal's Message

From the Desk of Kathy Nott - Term 3, Week 4

Good afternoon, Parents/Carers,

A special "Thank You"

As we enter Week 4, I would like to make a special mention and thank our parents/carers who have played a vital role this term in making sure our students who need to travel to events are present and able to participate. We understand that this can be very hard to navigate and we appreciate your assistance. Without your help it can sometimes be quite difficult for our students to participate in these events.  Also a big thank you to Mr Wilcox who has had to take on the task of attending these events as well as keep up with his usual daily schedule.

Behaviour Focus

Our behaviour focus for Week 4 is Respectful -  Building Positive Relationships

We are learning to:

  • Build positive relationships

We know we are successful when:

  • Showing kindness to everyone

  • Staying in your own lane

  • Be respectful to ourselves and others

  • Respectful body language - smile, track the speaker

CWA Werris Creek Branch Betty Cross Memorial Scholarship

Once again the CWA Werris Creek Branch have extended an invitation for all Year 6 students to apply for the CWA Betty Cross Memorial Scholarship.  This Scholarship was set up to assist students going into Year 7 in receiving funds to start their Highschool journey.  If you would like to apply, please contact CWA Werris Creek Branch for an application.  If you wish for a letter to be written by myself, please advise by Monday, 18th August so I am able to get this arranged for you.

Education Week Open Day & National Science Week

Although Education Week was last week, due to other commitments we had to postpone and celebrate this week together with National Science Week.  We will be holding an Open Day this Friday, 15th August at Werris Creek Public School and focusing on this year's theme "Ignite Your Potential". Please look to the Important Information & Events tab in the Newsletter to see our program for the day.  We will also conclude the day with a School Assembly where we will award students with Education Week Awards and also present our Athletics Champions with their medallions and shields. All are welcome to attend and we look forward to opening our school and celebrating with our families and community all things Public Education.

Stewart House PJ Day

On Wednesday, 20th August we will be holding a PJ Day to raise money for Stewart House.  Students are to wear their PJ's but please ensure that closed in shoes for school are worn (no slippers or crocs).  We also request a gold coin donation on this day and all monies raised will be forwarded to Stewart House.

Book Week

Next week we will celebrate Book Week.  This years theme is "Book an Adventure" and is a celebration of 80 years of Children's Book Week.  We will be holding a Book Fair that will run all week and Book Parade on Friday, 22nd August at 2:00pm.  Details on the Book Fair and Parade are in our Important Information & Events tab in the newsletter.

Return and Earn for our students

We have set up a purple recycling bin at school for all of our cans, bottles and recyclables to be sent to the Return and Earn facilities to raise funds for our school.  If you have an item that displays the 10c and recycle logo these items can be put in this bin.  The money raised will be known as our "Fun Money" and will go towards excursions and items that will benefit our students and give them affordable opportunities.  If you are able to assist, please bring in your recyclables to our purple bin and we will arrange the recycling.

Kind regards

Kathy Nott
