Tuned In Kids

Ukulele Workshop Incursion for all Foundation, Year 1 and 2 students

It’s that time of year when Tuned In Kids and Chatham PS offer all Foundation - Year 2 students the opportunity to experience a whole class ukulele workshop.

The TIK Team and their ukuleles move from classroom to classroom, spreading joy and happiness along the way.

Each child will have a ukulele in their hands. In 45 minutes they will learn at least 2 chords, put them together to play at least 2 fun contemporary songs, sing if the mojo takes them - and have a lot of fun in the process.

More for Free! Parents of students interested in learning more ukulele can book their child into an also free small group Disco (discovery session), and experience what an actual class will be like.

These are more focussed sessions with about 3 other students.  They happen across the remaining weeks of Term 1, with a view to begin classes in Term 2.

TIK small group classes are particularly good for youngsters as it’s a fun way to begin the music journey. Kids can learn in small groups of 3-4 children, often with friends, and it is a positive social experience as well as an educational one.  Economies of scale mean class cost is also reduced.

Chatham PS has a strong tradition of encouraging students to participate in music lessons because of all the inherent benefits for young learners and the school community.

Chatham PS also has a long history of Ukulele at the school.  It was an early adopter of the Ukulele as a great beginning to learning instrumental music.

Since 2008 Chatham PS students, from Foundation to Year 6, have been enjoying learning how to play a musical instrument with Yanai Morris and Tuned In Kids.  Yanai is a highly regarded music teacher, with students returning year after year for lessons.
