This week we are highlighting our wonderful Year 1 students!
In Year 1, students have been collaborating with the Year 2 cohort to enhance their narrative writing skills. They have been focusing on using engaging language, particularly by creating a sizzling start to capture the reader’s attention. Students have been learning about different types of sentences and demonstrating their understanding through the use of full stops, exclamation marks, and question marks in their writing.

During our Inquiry unit, students have been learning all about their ‘family story’, exploring the countries their family originated from and finding similarities and differences between their family and their peers’ family. During our oral presentations, we have been sharing all about the origin of our surname.

Lent has officially begun! We marked the start of the season on Shrove Tuesday by learning about its meaning, followed by a whole school pancake picnic. Year 1 students are now reflecting on their Lenten promises as they prepare for Easter.
