Updates from Miss Maree

Dear Families,

It has been a beautiful fortnight here at St. Joey's! All students are settled and have brought positive energy to the school, which has been felt through their interactions with each other and staff.

Division Swimming

We’d like to extend our congratulations to Hunter and Sebastian for their outstanding performances at the Division Swimming Championships. Hunter placed 3rd in the freestyle, while Sebastian finished 4th in the backstroke. Well done to both students for representing our school so well on the day!

Learning Conversations Reminder

Next week, we’ll be holding our Learning Conversations on Tuesday, March 11th and Wednesday, March 12th. These are an excellent opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher, share important information and hear how your child is progressing in class. Bookings can be made through the SIMON Everywhere/PAM app. If you encounter any issues with booking, or if these dates do not suit you, please contact your child’s teacher directly to arrange a more convenient time.

PSG Meetings

For those with children receiving a PSG (Personalised Support Group) meeting, these will be held on Thursday, March 13th. Please contact the office in advance if you are unable to attend.

Choose-Day Returns!

We are excited to announce that Choose-day is back for 2025! Students have voted on their preferred activities for this term and we have a fantastic lineup including Run Club, Aged Care Visits, Cooking, Fishing, Board Games, Gardening, and Yoga. Choose-day provides our students with an opportunity to try something new and develop new skills linked with our curriculum.

Meetings with Staff in the Morning

A friendly reminder that staff have delegated time each morning, from 8:20 AM, to prepare for the day’s learning activities, as well as attend meetings and other commitments. We encourage quick, informal communications during this time. However, for in-depth matters, we kindly ask that you contact the office to schedule an appointment. This ensures that your communication is received thoughtfully and gives staff the time they need to respond properly.

Opening School Mass & Ash Wednesday

This week our students participated in two Mass celebrations, Ash Wednesday and our Opening School Mass. For some, this was their first Mass attendance. We applaud the children for their high level of reverence shown. Many, volunteering to complete readings and special jobs! A shout out to Miss Gab for her organisation of these beautiful masses.

St. Joey's Vocal Group

Several of our students have expressed an interest in singing, so we've decided to form a choir. They have decided to name the group the St. Joey's Vocal Legends. The students will meet periodically to practice and improve their vocal skills. We are excited about the possibility of performing at Nagambie Aged Care and we look forward to hearing their beautiful voices at our school-wide celebrations!

The importance of Safe Parking and Crossing Roads

A huge shout out to all the parents, students and staff who have been using the school cross when coming and going from school, of a morning and afternoon. Thank you!

Our dedicated, supportive and compassionate Principal, Miss Maree, has been taking a well-deserved break this week. We look forward to welcoming her back next week!

Have a great long weekend every one and we will see you Tuesday!
