It is hard to believe that Week 8 of Term 1 is just around the corner. With the Autumn season beginning and the warmer weather continuing, life at St Louis continues to unfold.
Today we had a number of school tours for our prospective new families for 2026. They were all amazed at all we had to offer. They saw our students learning, the Year Sixes engaged in inter-school sport and all that Frank and the garden has to offer. It was wonderful to be able to show them around and see our students in action. We were given a lot of positive feedback.
Our celebrations for our 60 years celebration of St Louis continues. This Wednesday Andrew Chinn will be working with all of our students in planned workshops throughout the day. He will teach each year level specific songs which will culminate in a Concert at 2.15pm. All parents are invited to attend the performance in the Hall and we are asking for a gold coin on entrance to raise money for Caritas.
On Friday the 21st of March we celebrate Harmony Day. Harmony Day is a celebration of the country's cultural diversity and a time for our school community to come together and promote the elimination of racial discrimination, promote inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for all. Our classes have had a number of resources shared for them to use on the day and our classes from Year 1 to Year 5 will spend time with their Buddy Class on Friday afternoon. Our Preps and Year 6's will come together at some time on Thursday. Members of the school community are invited to wear a touch of orange on Friday. This does not mean a casual clothes day and could include an orange head band, ribbons, a wrist band, a bandanna, socks or a hat.
On Thursday afternoon our annual F.I.R.E. Carrier presentation is taking place on the Oval. The aim of this project is to promote respect, fairness and inclusion for Aboriginal people. Our Year 5 leaders will be presented during this ceremony. This forms a great connection with the meaning of Harmony Day.
Thank you to all those families using the crossing in the car park. We ask for your help in ensuring all students are not playing on the playgrounds before or after school. This is a safety issue and as there are no teachers on duty in those particular areas, there is no supervision. Please also be aware that the Tank playground is out of bounds at all times for our Prep- Year 2 students due to the height of the tank.
On Friday our Year 6 students will participate in the Lightning Premiership. We wish them all the best of luck in the various sports they will be participating in. We know that they will be ambassadors for St Louis and show great sportsmanship throughout the day.
Hoping you all have a fantastic week.
