Principal's Message

Hi everyone, it’s Brant! I’m writing the newsletter this week while Deb is on leave. Hope you’re all enjoying this amazing weather, especially with the long weekend just around the corner. It’s the summer that just keeps on giving!
Public Holiday - Monday
Monday is Labour Day, which means a well-deserved long weekend and no school! It’s a great opportunity to relax, spend time with family and friends, or catch up on some rest. Enjoy the break and see you all back at school on Tuesday!
Twilight Sports
Well, we tried… If you know the history of our sports days (and carols), you’ll know we always seem to break heat or rainfall records on the scheduled dates!
Unfortunately, Twilight Sports is cancelled for 2025. However, as Mr Stephens has already announced, we will be holding a Colour Explosion Run later this year, which is always a favourite for everyone!
A HUGE thank you to Mr Stephens and the fundraising committee for all their efforts in planning this year’s Twilight Sports event. From training the kids to ordering over 1,000 sausages, bread, drinks, etc. There’s a mountain of work that goes into these events to make them enjoyable for everyone, so thank you.
Athletics Days
All the very best to the Grade 5/6 students for tomorrow’s athletics day and our 3/4s who go the following Friday 14th March. This is always a great day, and the weather is looking perfect for you. Give it your best!
Entry to Classrooms
Just a friendly reminder that if you need to drop something off for your child after school has started, please bring it to the office and we will deliver it for you.
MEPS Masters Golf Day
Entries for this close on Tuesday. Get your team in fast to lock your spot, it’s going to be a fun day! For more information check the Xuno posts or email me: brant.kennedy@education.vic.gov.au
Term 1 Interviews
In the last week of term, teachers will be conducting parent-teacher interviews, just like we do in term three. This will be a chance to see how your child has settled in and to receive an indication of academic progress earlier in the year.
Term 1 interviews will be available on Thursday 3rd April between 2:45pm – 5:45pm and Friday 4th April between 8:45am – 12:45pm, in person and via Webex. Booking allocations opened on Monday 24th February and an email was sent out to all families with the booking link. To book, simply click on this link: https://www.schoolinterviews.com.au/code/r98rq
Free Dress and Icy Pole Day
A reminder of this message that was sent out earlier this week. A huge thank you to the fundraising parents for sorting this:
We know that there have been some sad kids with Twilight Sports not being able to go ahead this week, so we wanted to do something special to make the kids smile. We have decided that THURSDAY 13TH MARCH, will be a FREE DRESS & ICY POLE DAY. As a bonus for parents, it’s a FREE, FREE DRESS DAY - no charge!
Our MEPS Milk Bar will be open for students to purchase a cool treat.
We will aim to call Preps and Grade 1 students prior to lunch bell, to minimise wait time. Grades 2-6 can purchase from the BBQ shed from lunch time bell.
Please note that there will be a limit of 1 icy pole per child, we will not be allowing children to purchase for their friends. Please only send your child with enough money to purchase their icy pole of choice.
(Understanding though, that choices are while stocks last)
Zooper Doopers - $1.00 each. (Yes, we have no Sugar available)
Icy Pops - $1.00 (Cola, Lemonade or Raspberry)
Bulla Splits - $2.00 (Lemon/Lime, Mango or Raspberry
Bulla Frozen Yoghurts $2.00 (Mango, Strawberry or Wildberry)
Lifesaver Icy pole - $2.50
Privacy and Use of Photography
Just a reminder to parents that MEPS has a privacy policy, regarding the use of personal data, which is in line with Department policy. It can be found on the school website https://meps.vic.edu.au/policies/privacy.pdf
Mooroolbark East Primary also has policies around the taking and use of photos and filming, which is also in line with Department policies and can be found on the school website https://meps.vic.edu.au/policies/photographing_filming_and_recording_students.pdf
Please reach out to leadership if you have any questions.
Have an awesome long weekend!
