Secondary School

Chris Jennings, Head of Faculty - Mathematics

I am thrilled to join the Moama Anglican Grammar community as the new Head of Faculty - Mathematics. It is a privilege to step into this role and contribute to a school known for its commitment to excellence and nurturing environment.

My journey as an educator spans 20 years across various schools in Victoria, including Grovedale College, Echuca College, St. Joseph's Echuca, and most recently, Cohuna Secondary College. During my time at Cohuna, I served as the Mathematics Domain Leader, where I had the opportunity to implement an acceleration program that I am particularly proud of. Over the past two years, this program enabled three Year 10 students to achieve remarkable success, attaining study scores above 40—equivalent to a Band 6 result. Witnessing these students excel was truly rewarding, and it reaffirmed my belief in the power of tailored educational opportunities.

At Moama Anglican Grammar, I am excited to continue fostering a positive learning environment and supporting students in reaching their full potential. To this end, we offer Homework Help during Tuesday lunchtimes in the Resource Centre, providing students with valuable support and guidance. Additionally, our dedicated staff are available to assist HSC students during their study periods, ensuring they have the resources and mentorship needed to excel. Our Extension classes are also thriving, encouraging students to explore multi-layered questions that replicate real-world problems, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

We have recently had our Year 7-10 students sit the PAT-Mathematics test which has provided invaluable data and insights into how we can enhance the mathematical experience of every student. Our goal is to use this information to instil greater confidence in the subject. Every student will have the opportunity to discuss their results and receive targeted strategies to improve their mathematical knowledge and skill set, empowering them to achieve their personal best.

I am eager to bring my passion for education, dedication to student growth and commitment to excellence to Moama Anglican Grammar. I look forward to collaborating with staff, students and families as we work together to inspire and empower the next generation of learners.

Thank you for the warm welcome, and I am excited to be a part of this vibrant school community.

Looking forward to an exciting journey ahead,

Chris Jennings

Year 8

Freedom to Explore at Little Tree

Rooted in active education and curiosity-driven exploration, this term our Year 8 Inquire and Explore class began a program designed to nurture each child’s natural love of learning. Here are some photos of our class at Little Tree Echuca, an educational space based on Steiner's pedagogical practices that focus on real-world skills, where you can see our students engaging in a program designed to boost creativity and a lifelong passion for discovery.

Years 9 and 10

Renowned Artist Mulga Inspires Students with Mural and Workshop

Students at Moama Anglican Grammar were treated to an unforgettable artistic experience when renowned Australian street artist Mulga, also known as Joel Moore, visited the school. Best known for his vibrant, intricate artwork and collaborations with global brands like Coca-Cola, Samsung, and Adidas, Mulga brought his signature creativity to our campus.

Throughout the week, Mulga painted a striking permanent mural on the exterior of the secondary school’s art rooms, with Year 9 and 10 Visual Arts students getting the incredible opportunity to assist in the process. The mural, bursting with Mulga’s signature style, now adds a splash of colour and creativity to the school’s Visual Arts space.

In addition to the mural painting, Year 9 and 10 Visual Arts students participated in a two-hour Artist Talk and Workshop where Mulga shared his inspiring journey from working in finance to becoming a full-time artist. His story, filled with passion, humour, and perseverance, motivated students to pursue their artistic dreams.

Following the talk, students put their skills to the test in a How-to-Draw-a-Gorilla Workshop, learning step-by-step how to create their own Mulga-inspired artwork. The session was a fun, hands-on experience that encouraged students to explore their artistic potential.

Mulga’s visit left a lasting impact on the school community, with students gaining valuable insights into the world of professional art while contributing to a lasting piece of public artwork on campus. His visit reinforced the importance of creativity, hard work, and following one's passion.
