Primary School

It was great to welcome many families to our Parent Information Night on Thursday evening. These evenings provide a great opportunity to meet key staff and connect with other families. I would like to thank the guest speakers and the Primary Staff for the presentations they prepared which provided parents a snapshot of the year ahead.
Our Academic Co-Curricular programs continue to be offered for both English and Mathematics this year. In addition to the many extension programs and opportunities available for selected students, our comprehensive Literacy Intervention programs from Kindergarten to Year 6 will continue to be offered to identified students. Parents of students who are selected to participate in these programs will receive a personalised invitation.
Our Co-Curricular programs are about to commence, and we are excited to present the Term 1 opportunities to our students at our upcoming Primary Assembly. If parents have any questions about the programs on offer, they are encouraged to contact Mr Greg Cadd, Head of Student Experiences | Co-Curricular.
Year 6 Leadership Excursion to Gunbower Estate
On Monday 10 February, Year 6 students were involved in a full day of Peer Support training as leaders of the Primary School. The training included a visit to Gunbower Estate where the students worked collaboratively in teams to unpack the roles and responsibilities of being a leader. Throughout the year, the students are given opportunities to practise and fine-tune their leadership skills when teaching Primary students during Peer Support sessions. We look forward to seeing them develop into these roles.
“On Monday 10 February, Year 6 students went to Gunbower Estate for a Peer Support training day. During the excursion, the cohort split into five groups, each rotating through different activities. One of the activities was the ‘Egg Drop Challenge’, where we had to use natural resources to protect an egg from a high drop. This tested our problem-solving and teamwork skills.
Another activity was a walk through the historic Gunbower Estate homestead, which was built over a hundred years ago in the 1800s. It was a cool experience to see how houses have changed over time. After that, we did the ‘Blindfolded Trust Test’ with Mr. Harris. We had to wear a blindfold and trust another student to guide us through a course they created. This activity helped us learn to trust and communicate with others, even those we might not know well.
The last activity was ‘Leadership Role-Play’. Each round, a spokesperson summarised what we had discussed. We talked about the qualities of a good leader and how leadership plays a role in different situations. In conclusion, it was a fun and engaging experience where we learned about peer support and leadership while working together as a team.”

Students and staff will continue to engage in Stage Assemblies as they provide opportunities for students to; build connections as a stage, celebrate individual student achievements, share work with peers, have fun and increase leadership capacity and opportunities.

Lily and Cameron gave a presentation about the Year 6 Leadership Excursion to Gunbower Estate, explaining how the buildings were constructed over one hundred years ago and sharing some of the fun activities we did. Finally, Mr Ward wished us all the best for the swimming carnival. The stage assembly provided great insight for the Year 5 students about Gunbower Estate. The stage assembly was a great success, and we can't wait for the next one!”

I wish to extend my sincere gratitude to all our families for their continuous support of Moama Anglican Grammar. The surveys conducted by the School highlight the impact positive feedback from our current families has on the enrolment decisions of new families.
We are experiencing great interest in our school, which is reflected in the number of enrolment applications we have received for 2026 and beyond. We strongly encourage families who are considering enrolment at Moama Anglican Grammar, who have not yet applied, to promptly apply online. Particular urgency exists for entry into our Kindergarten classes in 2026.
