We are so proud of the calm start our students have had to the 2025 year. When taking families around on enrolment tours, regular comments are that we have obviously worded students up to behave this way. We chuckle to ourselves, we certainly don’t have the time to word 900 students up at multiple points throughout the week. This is a credit to our College community.
Doctors in Schools
Last week, our successful DISS program commenced for 2025 - students can make an appointment to see our clinic through the LIster House Hot Doc App or through wellbeing. Nurse Sharon and Doctor Felix will be at Horsham College every Thursday 10am-1pm.
Year 12 English Lectures
On Friday, we will welcome may Year 12 students from neighbouring schools to attend the annual Year 12 English Lectures - the speakers who present are worth their weight in gold - they are experts when it comes to exams - such a valuable opportunity.
Whole School Assembly
This week we welcomed back our first official whole school assembly since covid to present our Year 12 Leadership team with their badges.
Our Year 12 Student Leaders are:
Captains: Edie Mason and Hugo Hopper
Vice Captains: Zane Joseph and Elle Hion
Senior School Leaders: Keeley McDermott, Ella Lloyd and Madison Smith.
Edie and Hugo did a fantastic job of running the whole school assembly.
MP Visit
Last week, Ella Hion, Zane Joseph and Keeley McDermott showed MP Jacinta Ermacora from Warrnambool our incredible College. She was blown away by what she saw and the many programs that our school is able to offer to students. It was heart warming when our student leaders reflected on the visit and discussed how amazing our school is.
Students leaving school early
A reminder to families that any student leaving early must have parent permission (note or phone call to staff). We hope to never have an emergency situation, however we need to ensure that we know who is on site at all times.
Swimming Sports
A huge thankyou to our students who attended and participated in our swimming carnival this year. Although the weather wasn’t wanting everyone to jump into the water, we had some sun and there were lots of laughs and wonderful costumes!
Online Behaviour
As children start high school, the amount of children accessing social media increases due to may students being given the responsibility of having their own mobile phone. Unfortunately as the child’s brain is not fully developed, many students are not able to think through their actions clearly as they navigate what can be a dangerous online space. In a perfect world we would trust our children to use social media only for good, however we all know that we don’t live in a perfect world and children make mistakes. It is important that you know what your child is up to on social media - what accounts do they hold? What are they posting? What are they commenting? There are many laws governing social media use and online behaviour - please speak to your child about not being a keyboard warrior, not trolling, not posting unkind material because in a world where you can be anything, choose to be kind.
