Welcome back! It is great to see the enthusiasm and positive energy from all students, both returning and new students to the College, engaging fully in their classes and the learning over the past two weeks.
Timetable/Course Changes
Students are reminded that if they have a query/issue with their timetable and respective course selections to arrange a time to come and meet with Mr Pfitzner. Where possible within the constraints of the timetable and availability of space within classes students have received their preferences. The final date for student pathway changes is Thursday 6th March, following the closed weekend in March.
BYOD and WiFi
Most students now have their devices connected to the College WiFi.
Please check your child has an ‘activated’ version of Office (and not just the trial version) so they can access the required software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc). Students can access Office 365 using their student email whilst they are a student at the College. If students are having any issues with connectivity or accessing their Office 365 products, they can come to the front office to seek assistance and/or make an appointment to meet with Mr Chris Wilson, the IT Technician at the College. Mr Wilson works Mondays and Thursdays at the College.
Attached is a copy of the ‘Getting Started and Connected – at School’ information. It outlines how to access Connect, changing their password, join the College WiFi and adding their student email to Outlook.
Attached is the ‘Department of Education – Work at Home Software Installation Guide’. These are helpful resource for all students.
Compass
New parents have been sent their login and account set up instructions at the end of last year. Thanks to those who have accessed and completed this. If parents/carers have not yet attended to this, can you please complete this as soon as possible. This is important as Compass is the main database and form of communication at the College. HAC Chat (daily lunch notices) will be provided to parents/carers via a Compass notification.
A reminder, as indicated in the correspondence at the end of last year that an ‘App’ is available for both iOS and android. Any queries please do not hesitate to contact the College to resolve.
Parents/Carers Accessing CONNECT
CONNECT is the Department of Education Learning Management System. Parents/carers can use this to access their child’s classes each year. At Harvey this platform is used by teachers/trainers to enable students access to relevant learning materials and to see their academic progress. Once parents/carers have access they too can see their child’s academic progress.
Invitations have been sent to new parents/carers to enable them to set up access. New parents/carers with students at other government schools already should automatically see their child appear in CONNECT.
Attached is a ‘Quick guide for parents’ for your reference.
Communication is important from the College to the parents. Please do not hesitate to make contact to seek clarification or discuss any matter throughout the year. Thank you to parents/carers who have been making contact regarding a variety of matters already. This is greatly appreciated and has assisted with the smooth start up to the year.
Looking forward to catching up with you throughout the term and the remainder of the year.
Have a great weekend!
