Opening School Mass

Last Friday, our school community gathered to celebrate our Beginning of the Year Mass, marking the start of another exciting school year at Good Shepherd.

Our School Captains and Religious Education Student Leaders played active roles throughout the Mass, demonstrating great leadership. Jacqui and Ferial introduced the Mass and shared our new school theme for the year "Together We Can...". This message reminds us that we are never alone and with God at the centre of our journey, we can grow in kindness, knowledge, and faith.

A highlight of the Mass was the blessing and presentation of the Year 6 leadership badges. Our Year 6 students stood proudly as they pledged their commitment to being positive role models, demonstrating leadership and kindness to the younger students in our school. The Year 6 badges were presented at the end of the Mass. It was a meaningful moment as our new student leaders embraced their important role in shaping our school community.

During the Mass, we also had the prayer cloths for each class blessed. These cloths will be a special part of our daily morning prayer time, reminding us of God’s presence in our classrooms and guiding us throughout the year. Additionally, all Good Shepherd staff were commissioned, receiving God’s blessing as they embark on another year of teaching and guiding our students.

A special mention goes to the readers from across the school, who read beautifully and with confidence. For our new Prep students, this was their very first experience of a Good Shepherd Mass. It was a memorable moment as they took their first steps on their faith journey within our school.

We look forward to a successful and fulfilling year.
