Learning Specialists

On Wednesday the 12th of February, I was privileged to attend the launch of the 2025 Bulldogs Reading Program and witness our incredible Year 3/4 teacher, Jess McKee, speak about the impact the program had on students at Miners Rest in 2024. It was inspiring to hear how this initiative has fostered a love of reading and learning among young minds. On Monday, we attended the official launch at the library, where students learnt how to upload their book reviews and were thrilled to receive their Bulldogs Reading Program goodie bags.

I am excited to work alongside Jess and the selected students this year as they embark on this enriching journey, building their literacy skills and confidence through the program.

Pat and I thoroughly enjoyed our first ConnectEd session with parents, where we explored the impact of fine motor skills on our junior students and the writing process used in our school. It was wonderful to share insights into how developing these essential skills supports early numeracy and literacy skills as well as overall learning. Engaging with parents in these discussions helps strengthen the bond between home and school, ensuring our students receive the best possible support.

We look forward to future sessions and continuing these valuable conversations.
