Year Five/Six News

This week, our Year 5/6 students have been honing their storytelling skills by crafting engaging narratives. They have explored different parts of speech and shown a keen interest in using figurative language to enhance their writing.
Through experimentation with language, students have developed their own unique stories, incorporating personification, metaphors, and creative similes.
Here are some examples from this week’s writing:
- Her smile was like a shining star in the night sky - Annabelle P
- The whiteboard marker was twirling and singing as it took control of my hand on the whiteboard. - Oliver B
- The wind whispered across the glooming night next to the prancing shadows. - Jordynn M
In Maths, our students have been exploring a range of addition and subtraction strategies. They have been eager to master new ways to solve challenging problems and have enjoyed the success that comes with building their mathematical skills. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they apply different strategies to find solutions!
