Opportunities for Indigenous Students at Uni Melb

Murrup Barak at the University of Melbourne has upcoming opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school students. 

 

Outreach Team  

The Murrup Barak Outreach Team provide information and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples interested in higher education.  Our work includes: 

  • In-person and online school visits, 
  • On-campus experiences (presentation and campus tour), 
  • Personal consults with students, teachers, parents and carers,  
  • Attending community events and expos, 
  • VTAC application support.

⭐ Yagilaith (Year 11 & Year 12) ⭐ 

Hosted by Murrup Barak, Yagilaith (meaning ‘learning’ in WoiWurrung) is an opportunity for Year 11 and Year 12 students on an ATAR/IB pathway in any state/territory to experience what studying at the University of Melbourne is like. 

We welcome applications from students with interests in all fields. 

There is no cost to participate. All expenses are covered including accommodation, food, and flights. 

Yagilaith will take place Monday 7 July to Friday 11 July 2025.   

Applications are NOW OPEN and close Thursday 17 April 2025.

University of Melbourne Open Day 

During Open Day in August, Murrup Barak will be hosting a number of activities both in-person and online for community interested in studying at the University.  

Attending Open Day is a great way to get a feel for the University campus, to meet University staff and students, and to yarn with a Murrup Barak staff member to discuss your aspirations and options in detail.
