Year 7 

Year 7 will be engaging in creative dance during practical lessons in term 1. They will be put in small groups and asked to create a dance which incorporates dynamics, levels, space and timing into their choreography. In Health they will be completing a unit on developing skills for a balanced lifestyle. They will explore healthy eating and the benefits of physical activity. 

 

Year 8 – Risky Business/Athletics 

Year 8 will be engaging in Athletics during practical lessons where they will learn the correct technique for a range of throwing and jumping disciplines. Students will be given the opportunity to practice and hone their skills so they are able to compete at the athletics carnival during week 3 of term 2. In the classroom they will be looking into risk taking behaviours. Who is most likely to take risk? Why people take risks? And the difference between a positive and negative risk. 

 

Year 9 – You are what you eat/Dance 

Year 9 have been participating in a range of classic line dances including the Nutbush and Macarena. They have also done some partner dancing and creative thinking tasks. In theory they have been learning about healthy eating and the benefits of physical activity. Students will look at how to identify what food products are healthy and unhealthy based on their nutritional panel. 

 

Year 10 – Too good to be true/Tournaments 

Year 10 have been participating in a range of round robin, knockout and head to head sports during their practical lessons. In theory they have been looking into the impact and dangers of online safety, cyberbullying and digital footprint. 

 

Sport Lifestyle and Recreation 

Year 12 

Year 12 SLR are preparing to participate in each of the Athletic disciplines. Students will be in small groups and run an event as part of a mini SLR Olympics. Each student will be trying to earn points for their individual tally as well as their countries.  

 

Work Studies 

Work Studies have been working through the different types of employment including casual, Part-Time and permanent. They have been researching what entitlements and responsibilities they may encounter in these types of employment.
