- A Busy Start to the Year!
It’s been an exciting and busy start to the school year in Aboriginal Education at Camden High! All Year 7 students kicked off their O-Week activities with a special Dharawal cultural session. They had the chance to create mini artworks using leaves, gum nuts, and bark, which are now proudly displayed in the library. They also studied the Dharawal Dreamtime story 'Yandelora' and tasted fresh finger limes from our Bush Tucker Garden.
Our first excursion of the year took students to Parramatta Stadium for the NRL All Stars Captains’ Run, ahead of the Māori vs. Indigenous All Stars match on Friday 14th February. Students had the incredible opportunity to watch the training session up close and meet the players from both the men’s and women’s sides for autographs and photos. The day concluded with a touch football gala day where both our boys and girls teams showcased excellent teamwork and sportsmanship.
We are also thrilled to celebrate our 2025 GO Foundation Scholars, 12 dedicated Year 9-12 students who were awarded scholarships for their commitment to education and culture. They have already completed their first mentor check-in, and we can’t wait to see the educational and cultural opportunities this scholarship provides.
Finally, DEADLY Study Sessions for our Year 7 and 8 First Nations students began in Week 4. These weekly sessions, focusing on literacy and numeracy through a cultural lens, are a great way to strengthen key educational skills while connecting with culture.
It’s been a fantastic start to the year, and we look forward to all the exciting learning experiences ahead!
