Merit system at CHS
Merits are given by teachers throughout the school day. Merits are awarded to students who are demonstrating the attributes of beng learners who are respectful and safe. Students who receive 10 merits will automatically receive a “Core Values Award” at the respective Recognition Assembly.
During “Positive Work Ethic Weeks” teachers will identify students who have demonstrated a consistent approach to their learning. These weeks are Week 2 Term 2 and Week 2 Term 4. The identified students will receive a “Positive Work Ethic Award” at the respective Recognition Assembly.

Kiss and Drop Zone – Safety First!
To keep our students safe and traffic flowing smoothly, we kindly remind all parents and carers to follow these important guidelines when using the Kiss and Drop Zone at the front of the school:
✅ Stay in Your Car – This is a drop-off and pick-up zone only. Please remain in your vehicle and ensure children exit safely.
✅ Move Forward – Pull up as far as possible to allow more cars to access the zone.
✅ Quick Goodbyes – Keep the drop-off efficient to avoid congestion.
✅ Be Patient and Courteous – Let’s work together to keep our students safe and traffic moving.
Pedestrians Safety:
- Always use crosswalks and obey traffic signals.
- Look both ways before crossing, even when there’s no traffic.
- Stay focused—put away your phone and air pods while crossing the street.
- Enter the school grounds immediately after being dropped off to school in the morning.
Cyclists Safety:
- Wear a helmet and follow traffic laws just like any other vehicle.
- Use bike lanes whenever possible, and signal your turns to drivers.
Drivers Safety:
- Be aware of school zones and adjust your speed accordingly.
- Do not park in Bus, No Stopping, No Parking zones to maximise student and pedestrian safety.
- Never use your phone while driving, and always be alert for pedestrians or cyclists.
Thank you for your cooperation in making our school a safer place for everyone!
