Lachlan Thomas is a Year 12 student at Seymour College who commenced a school-based carpentry apprenticeship on February 11, 2025 with ATG Projects who are based in Highlands Road, Seymour. ATG Projects construct relocatable classrooms and portables for schools right across Victoria. Company Director, Joe Frisby contacted Seymour College late in 2024 seeking the best way in assisting students to experience working the building industry. With this some work placement available, Lachlan who has a strong interest in carpentry presented to the Careers Office expressing his interest in wanting to experience the workplace. Lachlan displayed the correct effort and work ethic during his time doing the work placement. Joe Frisby then wanted more information of what the employer’s responsibilities and obligations are as an employer of a school-based apprentice. Once this was discussed, ATG Projects were fully supportive of employing Lachlan.
Lachlan will now be employed two days a week and attend Seymour College the remining three days.
Congratulations Lachlan and good luck

Max Ilbury is a Year 10 student at Seymour College who on February 5th commenced a school-based light vehicle apprenticeship with All-Round Automotive in Kilmore. Max has always had a genuine interest in cars and trucks. If the opportunity presented for him to help out and learn more about how engines worked, he looked forward to getting his hands dirty. Max sourced his work placement at All Round Automotive and really enjoyed his work placement. From there discussions developed around the possibility of him working at All Round Auto as a school-based apprentice. The guys at All Round Auto were fully supportive and welcomed giving Max an opportunity. Whilst in Year 10, Max will work one day per week at the workplace, with the possibility of his workdays increasing next year. Max will attend Kangan Institute as part of his trade school requirements which will be a blend of on-site visits and the occasional visit to the Broadmeadows campus.
