Library

The library has been the place to be in Term 1, with an average of 133 students visiting our space each break. In addition to assessment and printing help, we have a variety of social clubs and activities to keep students entertained during their breaks:

The Premier’s Reading Challenge is back! This year we’ve got 17 students who are working towards completing this challenge, with two students who have already finished! Congratulations to Joveena J in Year 7 and Imogen B in Year 8 on their excellent effort reading the 20 required books. It’s not too late for students to join! If your child is interested in participating in this year’s challenge, they have until Friday 22nd August to read their chosen books and update their online reading records

Our Wide Reading Program has also been off to a successful start in 2025. This year, students in Years 7 and 8, as well as some selected Year 9 and Support Unit classes, are participating. This program aims to create independent, lifelong readers who are set up for personal and academic success by providing them with access to our library books and the chance to share their reading in a socially supported environment. Some of our Year 8 students have had great fun reading to each other with our Buddy Reads activity.

Last year, we had our best ever for books loaned with 2412 books making it into the hands of our students! Our Top 10 borrowers were responsible for a whopping 835 of these loans, with the following students reading an impressive number of books throughout the year. However, last year’s top borrowers are already facing some stiff competition this year, with a new batch of readers aiming to beat these records:

  • Ivy N in Year 7: 65 books
  • Cameron F in Year 12: 36 books
  • Natalie K in Year 8: 26 books
  • Levi D-W in Year 10: 21 books
  • Ryan M in Year 8: 20 books
  • Brax S in Year 7: 19 books
  • Annabelle K in Year 9: 15 books
  • Sarah J in Year 10: 14 books
  • Erana B in Year 10: 13 books
  • Joveena J in Year 7: 12 books

We’ve had loads of requests for new books which are starting to arrive on our shelves. If your child finds themselves looking for something to read during the upcoming holidays, they can also borrow from the thousands of free ebooks and audiobooks available on our virtual library.
