Dance and Drama

Congratulations to Kirra Douglas, Emily Radisic and Mickayla Marshman from Year 10, Phoebe Lee and Ella Santa Maria from Year 9 for representing Elderslie High School at the opening of the Blossom Project run by Charity Organisation The Big Yellow Umbrella. The project offers women the chance to build skills, gain confidence, and form connections in a safe and supportive space. Our 2022 Wakakirri submission "The Hunger Games of High School" was shown and the dancers brought it to life by performing the last section on stage. Kirra was lucky enough to win the raffle and the dancers enjoyed making stress balloons and the delicious cakes and scones. We are very proud of how they represented Elderslie High School at this event.

Our Dance and Drama students are already working so hard to prepare for performances and events this year.  The Dance Ensemble has worked really hard to prepare their audition video for the In The Spotlight Dance Festival.  We have our fingers crossed that our item will be selected for this year’s festival.  Both the Dance Ensemble and the Ballroom Dance Ensemble have been entered into the Southern Tablelands Dance Festival to be held mid-June, as well.

We have also submitted our dance audition video for this year’s Schools Spectacular.  We are hoping to be included in the Combined Dance Section.  Congratulations to Scarlett Bowser from Year 10 on her selection to move forward into the Live Auditions for the Ballet Ensemble for Schools Spectacular.  Congratulations to Kirra Douglas from Year 10 on her selection to move forward into the Live Auditions for the Hip Hop Ensemble for Schools Spectacular.  Congratulations to Lilly Ockers, Kaliska Nenadic, Kimberley Smith and Ella Smith from Year 12 on their selection to move forward into the Live Auditions for the Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz/Musical Theatre, Tap ensembles.  Stay tuned for updates on our progress with this event in 2025.

Visual Arts

As we reflect on a busy Term 1, it's evident that creativity knows no bounds within our students. From captivating exhibitions to amazing artworks, our students and faculty have embraced every opportunity to explore, experiment, and express ourselves through the vibrant world of Visual Arts.

Year 12 Art Express

Our Year 12 Visual Arts class went to the Art Gallery of NSW to view the current Art Express exhibition along with the gallery's current collections on Friday 21st February.  Art Express includes examples of outstanding bodies of work from HSC students from 2024.  Ms Mangion and the students had a great day in the city sightseeing and viewing the amazing collection of works that the AGNSW had on display.

Visual Arts Club

Visual Arts Art Club has started up again this year and the students have already made new friendships through artmaking activities. Visual Arts club plays a vital role in nurturing creativity and personal growth among students. This term, students have been busily working in the background for Elderslie High School Musical. Through lots of laughter and painting, the students have been designing and painting the canvas for the BRING IT ON, The Musical. Once they have completed the canvas, they will start creating the sets needed for our musical.

Watch this space for more exciting artworks and projects to come from our talented students.

The Camden Show

For the second time this year, some of our Visual Arts Club students have participated in Camden Show, by entering their artworks in the competition to be judged by the judges at Camden Show. We had four wonderful artworks on display in the pavilion and it is a delight to announce that one of our participating students received a Highly Commended Award.  Congratulations to Annabelle Kormos from Year 9.
