Year 7
Well done to Year 7 who have almost completed their first Topic for Stage 4 Geography! This term, we have focused on Landscapes & Landforms, where students have explored key features and environments that are constructed naturally. Students have learnt new skills, and developed their own understanding of how we value landscapes across different places and cultural backgrounds.
We are super proud of the efforts of their first Assessment Task - an Infographic - and cannot wait for what Year 7 students have to bring as we enter Term 2. Check out some incredible work by some students.
Year 8
Year 8 has spent this term focusing on our first topic, life in Medieval Europe. From the gruesome details of the Black Death, to the intricate design features of Castles and warfare, Year 8 have demonstrated a fantastic effort in developing knowledge of life during this time.
Year 8 were also lucky enough to be provided with the opportunity to interact with an incredible guest speaker - Mr Miller - who brought his Medieval Weapons and Knight gear and showcased this to every class. As an athlete in this industry, Mr Miller’s knowledge and understanding of key weapons and fighting techniques was invaluable to the students.
Check out some photos of students trying on his gear!
Year 10 Commerce
As part of their unit on establishing a business, our talented Commerce students took learning beyond the classroom and into the quad! Over the past term, students have explored the foundations of launching a small business – from developing a product and calculating profit margins to designing eye-catching branding and promotional strategies. Putting theory into action, students worked in teams to create and run their own stalls, offering a delicious variety of treats including burgers, sausage sizzles, ice cream sandwiches, cake pops, rocky road and so much more!
Each group was responsible for every step of the process: planning, budgeting, advertising and selling. The buzz around the quad was electric, with long lines and enthusiastic customers flocking to support their peers. Impressively, every stall completely sold out – a testament to the students' hard work, creativity and entrepreneurial flair.
Commerce in the Quad wasn’t just about making money – it was about collaboration, resilience and learning how businesses succeed in real-world settings. Students walked away with a deeper understanding of what it takes to turn a business idea into reality – and a healthy profit to donate to charity to show for it!
