Yellow Arrow Leadership Incursion

Yellow Arrow Leadership Incursion - Tuesday 18th March

On Tuesday the 18th of March, our student leaders participated in a Leadership Skills Incursion run by Yellow Arrow. Our Senior Captains & Prefects, House Captains, Peer Mentors and Year 7 Ambassadors engaged in a dynamic and engaging student leadership training program. Students had the opportunity to explore leadership in various activities including; teambuilding, speed chats, leadership styles, and public speaking. Students reflected on their leadership style, worked with fellow leaders, and were vulnerable and open to trying something new or when sharing ideas. The day wrapped up as students met in their respective roles and constructed a “team charter” - each team identified their personal strengths, team values and team norms. It was an uplifting and meaningful day, and we look forward to utilizing these leadership skills throughout the year.

“The Yellow Arrow Leadership incursion was amazing! We learnt all about how to be a good leader and what it means to be a leader. We did a lot of activities such as, getting into groups with your fellow leaders (e.g. house captains) and getting to know each other. We also learnt about how you lead as an individual via the DISC (Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, Compliance) test. The incursion was very helpful, and I had a lot of fun!”

- Fern Hamilton, Gilmore House Captain, year 11

“The Yellow Arrow leadership incursion was a good way to get to know your fellow captains and learn about how you lead. It was helpful to see which DISC leadership type our leaders were and to see how they work together in a group. It was a good way to get to know the year 7 ambassadors as well, and I think everyone learned a lot about leadership types and how to work together in a group with people you may not really know yet. The activities were fun and the games we played with Yellow Arrow were good to get to know everyone and to turn learning about being a leader into something fun.”

- Lillian Davis, Hollows House Captain, year 11.
