Life in the LRC

Open Night Success!

This week Heathmont College held its 2025 Open Night.

The LRC staff were proud to show off their vibrant space to prospective families and friends.

We are currently in the middle of creating our next display, which will be progressively unveiled to our whole school community.  This theme was featured as part of our open night with games, treats and photo props on offer to our visitors.

Our safe and inclusive space was well received by all visitors, with many commenting on how wonderful and inviting the Learning Resource Centre is and as many marveling at our extensive range of resources available, including our new audio book collection. If students are interested in learning more about accessing audiobooks or e-books, please come and see us in the LRC!

Egg-cellent tales for an egg-citing Easter!

With term holidays and the Easter break upon us, we hope you are egg-cited about the opportunity to relax, unwind and read a book. Whether you come into the library or hop online to borrow an e-book or audiobook, we know you will find many reading options.  Heathmont’s library now proudly boosts that it has an audiobook collection as large as many regional libraries.

Anzac Writing Competition

Each year our college proudly participates in the Anzac Appeal.  This year, the LRC is hosting an Anzac Day Competition as part of this significant commemoration.  Over the break, we invite entrants to submit a 2-3 paragraph written piece, a slideshow with equivalent content or a short video to demonstrate their understanding of the importance of Anzac commemorations. This could be a personal recount from a family member, a poem, a story or anything else related to Anzac Day. It must be your own work.

Submissions will be judged by a panel of staff members, and the winning entry will be featured in the Gazette along with a certificate and prize. The competition closes on Tuesday, April 22nd (first day of Term 2).  The winner will be announced after Anzac Day.

Get involved, lest we forget.
