I can't believe it is the end of Term 1, already. It has been such a busy and exciting term. I hope you all have a safe break and I am looking forward to seeing everyone after the break.
Over the last few weeks, the Grade 1 and 2 students have been continuing on with their basket weaving. Many of them finished and have been so proud to take home their beautifully weaved basket.
This week, the students got their hands dirty with some messy sand and water fun. They tried to find out how much water they should add to sand, to make a strong sandcastle. We did an experiment to find out and the students recorded their results in a table.
The grade 3 and 4 students have been busy creating their repurposing projects. They have made some fabulous creations, from bird feeders, to pulley systems to piggy banks, they have done an amazing job. I have loved seeing their creativity.
In grade 5 and 6 we have been learning about running an experiment ensuring a fair test and thinking about variables. The students were answering the question, which liquid has the lowest viscosity. To do this, they needed to consider how they would measure it in a fair way to make sure none of the variables changed.
To finish the term, the 5/6 students made slime! Something they have been begging to do since day 1. We used shampoo and corn flour in this recipe and had to experiment with the quantities. It was interesting how much the results varied.
