                                                                2025 House Captains

House Points:

Great to see so many students making positive choices and being awarded house points. As we near the end of the term, continue to be kind to yourself and others and earn your house points.

Foundation:

Over the past three weeks, the Foundation students have focused on refining and practising their Fundamental Movement/motor skills (FMS).

The students have had the opportunity to learn one of the methods for throwing underarm (Tik, Tok, Step & Rock). To practise this skill, the students moved around set stations which had a variety of objects to throw e.g. bean bags, tennis ball and soft ball. The purpose of the stations was to allow them to apply the learned technique and develop their throwing accuracy skills.

The Foundation Students also completed their first Health Portfolio task which looked the Human Body. The students were given the opportunity to colour code the different parts of the body e.g. legs, arms, feet and hands. Their learning was also scaffolding by enabling them to label the different parts of the body with the teacher's assistance.

Year One/Two

Over the past three weeks, the Year One & Two students have focused on refining and practising their Fundamental Movement/motor skills (FMS).

Year One: Continued their development and practise of the underarm throw technique using the four-step method Tik, Tok, Step and Rock. Their learning was scaffolding to allow them to apply that technique to small team-based games such as Snowball, Knock them Over and Protect the base. It has been great to watch the student's level of confidence grow over the unit. Next term, they will progress to the overarm throw.

Year Two: Continued their development and practise of the overarm throw technique using the four-step method Tik, Tok, Step and Rock. Their learning was scaffolding to allow them to apply that technique to small team based games such as Snowball, Knock them Over and Protect the Base. It has been great to watch the student's level of confidence grow over the unit.

Year Three/Four

Over the past three weeks, the Year Three/Four students have participated in some fitness and skill testing lessons. Each lesson was planned to provide the students with the opportunity to test their levels of fitness and skill. Some of the fitness tests that were conducted were the Beep Test, Step ups, sit-ups and basketball throw. The students all recorded their results and will have a chance to better these in Term Three.

During the skill test lesson, the students focused on dribbling, kicking and coordination. Again, they all recorded their scores and will revisit them in Term Three.

The last session saw them participate in a basketball clinic run by the Knox Raiders. The students focused on some of the core skills involved with basketball e.g. dribbling and shooting. To apply these skills, they played games such as Line Tag, Rob the Nest and Golden Child.

Year Five/Six

Over the past three weeks, the Year Five/Six students have participated in some fitness and skill testing lessons.

The last lesson saw the students complete their portfolio task. The students were given the opportunity to map out a day in their life e.g. food eaten, exercise and emotions. The purpose of this task was to highlight how planning and organising days can lead to productivity and efficiency.

Division Swimming

On Monday 17th March, thirteen of our Year Three-Six students attended the Division Swimming Carnival at Croydon Pool. It was terrific to watch all of the students give their absolute best. The team spirit on display was tremendous as each student cheered and encouraged their teammates on. From this event, we had nine students progress through to the region stage. Congratulations on your efforts.

Region Swimming

On Friday 21st March, a select group of students from years 3-6 represented our school at the Region Swimming Carnival at Aquanation. To reach this level in an outstanding achievement in itself and something each student can be proud of. Each of our students swam their hearts out and gave their absolute best. As a school, that's all we can ever ask for. Congratulations on your efforts throughout the swimming carnivals, we are very proud of you all.
