Prep Term Reflection

Congratulations to the Preps on finishing their First ever term of school!

In our Core Literacy Block, we learnt to say, read and write the sounds from Unit 1 - 3 of SoundsWrite: s, a, t, i, m, n, o, p, b, c, g and h and have been busy building, reading and writing words with these letters and sounds.

We've been practicing the words 'the', 'a', 'I', 'is', 'has', and 'said' as heart words.

The students have been learning about what a noun is, and we've begun unpacking the key parts of fiction stories, something that we'll have a big focus on next term!

In Numeracy, we've been learning to count up to 16 and with the help of 'Direction Duck' we've been "writing numbers perfectly" up to 9!

We've also continued our learning about time, shape and position. We've learnt about rectangles and squares, and have been sorting they days of the week into 'weekdays' and 'weekend days'.

The students have also leant to identify plus and equals symbols and will be diving into addition when they return to school for Term 2!

For SEL, we've been using the Open Parachute program and learning about having a go, being resilient and developing coping strategies that we can use if something doesn't go our way when playing with friends.

During planning week, with the additional time in the classroom, the students had the opportunity to explore different materials and activities to create, imagine and construct!

We hope you all have a wonderful two weeks with your families.

For those who observed Ramadan and celebrated Eid, we hope this special time was meaningful and joyful.

With Easter approaching for those who celebrate, we wish you a Happy Easter and holiday.
