Week 9 & 10 Updates
After a busy term of preparing for Harmony Day, it was wonderful to take a moment to reflect on how amazing our students performed at the event. With all the rehearsals, stage movements, live music accompaniment, and performing in front of such a big audience, they did an outstanding job! It was lovely to see the students watching videos of their performance and reliving those special moments.
We've revisited the keyboard room this fortnight, and for the Preps and new students, it was their very first time being in the "secret room". Everyone enjoyed exploring the keyboards along with the different settings and sounds they could create.

¡Hola Amigos!
I have enjoyed spending the last two weeks getting to know the students and finding out how much Spanish they already know. It's been great to see how much knowledge the students have held on to, and how much vocabulary they have.
Through Harmony Week, we explored different Spanish speaking countries around the world, their flags and main traditions.
We have also spent time reviewing basic conversational skills in Spanish, and have practiced them in and out of the classroom.
Looking forward to boost the love of learning in Spanish next Term.
¡Que lo paséis muy bien!
It has been an exciting and inspiring Term 1 in STEM! I’ve been absolutely blown away by our students’ curiosity and enthusiasm for Biological Sciences. Their effort, engagement, and teamwork have been nothing short of impressive.
Looking ahead to Term 2, we’ll be swapping our science hats for engineering caps as we dive into exploring the properties of materials and how they can be used for different purposes. We’ve already begun building our Design and Technology skills—practising ways to join materials, experimenting with their uses, and learning how to plan and manage our time effectively.
Wishing everyone a safe and relaxing break. See you in Term 2!
A Fantastic Start to the Year!
What an amazing first term it has been at Sunny Heights Primary School! It has been an absolute joy getting to know our incredible students and seeing them create some truly impressive artwork. Their creativity and enthusiasm have been inspiring, and this is just the beginning! I can’t wait to see what Term 2 brings as we continue to explore and develop our artistic skills.Looking forward to another exciting term ahead!
What have we been working on…
As we approach the end of the term, students in prep, grade 1 and 2 have been working hard and exploring the world of primary colors. We began an exciting and very messy art activity, using our hands to mix and blend paints to see how colors transform. Students also experimented with new tools to create unique patterns in their artwork. It was a fantastic experience! Next term, we will build on these skills to create some fun and imaginative monster-themed artwork.
While the Grade 3, 4,5 and 6’s have been learning about the artist Keith Haring who was an American painter Keith Haring is known for his graffiti-style art that used cartoon like figures and graffiti-inspired symbols. His work was extremely popular in the 1980s. The students have begun creating their own “Pop Art” style images using the idea of repetition to bring across a strong and striking message to their viewers.
