Primary Inter-School Swimming Carnival
On Thursday 3 April, a group of enthusiastic Year 4 and 5 students represented our College at the Primary Inter-school Swimming Carnival held at Aqualife Centre in East Victoria Park. With the Year 6s away on camp, our younger students stepped up and gave it their all across a range of individual and team events.
The highlight of the day was the team relays, where the atmosphere was electric, and all schools got behind their swimmers with loud and spirited cheering. While the results didn’t quite reflect the effort and determination shown by our students, it was fantastic to see so many of them commit to training sessions on Tuesday afternoons in the lead-up to the carnival.
A big thank you to Mrs Galbraith for assisting on the day and to Mrs Hastie for helping during training. Your support made the day a success!
Well done to all students who participated—you represented the College with pride, enthusiasm, and great sportsmanship!
Year 10 – Certificate II in Sport Coaching
Our Year 10 Sport Coaching students have recently begun delivering practical PE sessions to our Year 4 classes on Wednesday afternoons in Weeks 9 and 10 as part of their course. This exciting initiative gives them the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a hands-on environment while developing key coaching skills.
Over the two weeks, students have worked on improving their communication, organisation, and leadership, planning and running engaging activities for the younger students. With feedback and reflection, they are continuing to grow in confidence and ability as emerging coaches.
It has been fantastic to see the energy and connection between the Year 10s and Year 4s, and we look forward to more coaching opportunities in the future!
Year 6 Inter-School Cricket Carnival
On Monday 7 April, our Year 6 students represented Salvado at the Inter-School Cricket Carnival, with one boys’ team and one girls’ team proudly taking the field. The event was a fantastic celebration of cricket, teamwork, and sportsmanship, and our students competed with great enthusiasm and determination throughout the day.
There were some excellent individual and team performances, with many fine displays of batting, bowling, and fielding seen across all games. The boys' team had a strong day on the pitch, only losing one match—and that was to the team who went on to win the carnival. The girls’ team were involved in several tightly contested games and showed great persistence and spirit in each one.
A special thank you goes to the Year 10 and 11 students who supported the carnival by umpiring and scoring as part of their Certificate courses. Their efforts added great value to the event and were appreciated by staff.
Well done to all involved for a fantastic day of cricket!
