Athletics Day

Athletics Day!!!! Keep scrolling for lots of fabulous photos!!

One special day a year is called Aths day it is my favourite day of the school year. For year three and above there are seven events you can compete in, 100 metre sprints, long jump, triple jump, discus, and shot put but the other two are optional and they are 800 metre run and 110 metre hurdles. Whoever comes first in the age group gets the choice to go on to the next level called District. In that level you compete in other schools in District and then there is Division, Regionals then State.

For grade two and under it's called the junior carnival and they do things like egg and spoon races, rob the nest, 60 metre sprints, hurdles, and a relay race. Each year there are four captains/vice captains in each house so sixteen in total. Now let's talk about this year. So, tied in third place is Blue and Yellow house at 788 points and in second place we have Red house at 806 points and in first place we have Green house at 826 points.

We all had so much fun cheering and competing. Aths day is not just about winning and competing - it's about having fun and cheering on others. A BIG thanks to Dale and all the teachers for arranging the day!
