Messages from School Council

Messages from school council…
- This year’s school council has been formed and duties have begun…
The first meeting of this year’s school council took place on Wednesday 26th March where we welcomed our new parent members Jim Round and Micheal Smalley. They have joined existing parent members, Ellis Richardson, Steve Moore, Christian Scallan, Betty Maniotas, Ben Ozel, and myself, Jo Pitt on the NPS school council. We join with our teacher members this year who are Izzy Phillpots, Delan McCreden, Nick Barcley and of course our Principle and Vice Principle-Shaun and Bale.
We also elected required positions in the council for this coming year which looks like this:
- I will continue in my role as President for one more year.
- Jim Round has been elected in to the Vice President’s role
- Steve Moore has been elected for another year into the Treasurer’s role
- And Caterina Carnivale as minute taker.
Supporting out school council we have voted to continue with our three subcommittees of Finance (convened by Steve Moore as Treasurer), Environments who focus on our working bee’s and landscaping projects (and will be convened by Betty Maniotas for another year) and Community (which I have stepped in to the convening role) and this group focuses on fundraising and community events.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that anyone can be a part of our school council subcommittees without election or having to commit to attending every meeting throughout the year (usually eight in total). In fact, the more people who are willing to attend when they can and contribute when the rest of life allows is hugely appreciated and makes many hands light work. This will allow us to share the load throughout the year and continue to make fundraising successful and diverse. If you are interested to learn more about how the school council and subcommittee’s run, then please feel free to reach out to either Shaun or myself (joanne.pitt@hotmail.co.uk/ 0439138865). Subcommittee meeting take place one week prior to the school council meetings on a Wednesday evening and the dates can always be found in the school newsletter under dates to remember. You can join us at any time throughout the year and we welcome it!
- Election day-3rd May 2025 – come and place your vote at NPS and join the community spirit!
After a successful voting station for the referendum in 2023 we have been asked to host again on May 3rd 2025 as a polling station. Although we already have our much loved and enjoyed Trivia night at WTT on this day, we will be making the most of this opportunity by hosting our community and organising a fundraising sausage sizzle throughout the day.
We also intend to showcase our infamous fete stall of ‘Helen’s Harvest-2.0’ with the voting community which will include donated baked goods and jams/chutney’s from our willing parents! Please keep your eyes peeled for a baking kit the first week back in Term 2, but if you want to get ahead and creative in the holidays then please refer back to our ‘Helen’s Harvest recipe’s for jamming and chutney’s’ from the fete newsletters and also the bake and freeze recipe’s we shared. We will be hoping for donations from w/c 28th April to sell on Saturday 3rd May (but more details will follow)
