Ms Dzaferovic AP Message

Happy Eid to all our families who celebrated the end of Ramadan this week.

In our classrooms…

Last week, our 2025 School Council met for their first meeting of the year. Elected parents and staff shared the "why" behind their decision to join the council, and it was heartwarming to hear parents' complimentary remarks about the incredible work our teachers do every day. While this work is part of our daily norm, it was truly appreciated to have it acknowledged.

This positive feedback was echoed again this week when we hosted our Senior Education Improvement Leader and Educational Improvement Leader, who came to observe our F-2 Literacy Practices. Both provided glowing feedback on our teaching approach, student engagement, and the consistency of classroom routines.

On Monday, we also welcomed a Tasmanian educator tour, led by Jordana, the Education Program Director at the Grattan Institute, and Bron Ryrie Jones. The tour included educators from various schools as well as key education department staff. Their focus was on the implementation of evidence-based practices in literacy and numeracy, and they observed lessons across multiple classrooms.

I had the privilege of hearing their enthusiastic feedback and awe over what we consider everyday practice at TPS. Jordana was particularly impressed by the rapid progress and high level of teaching expertise at our school. They also noted how focused and engaged our students remained, even with a large group of adult observers in the room.

Here’s a snapshot of the feedback they shared:

- "Seeing the high levels of engagement from students who are in their first 45 days of school and the teacher roving and providing immediate feedback."

- "Teacher being able to cater for differentiation within a highly structured lesson, and using a high rate of OTRs (Opportunities to Respond)."

- "Teacher being responsive to errors and reteaching as needed."

- "Highly structured and scaffolded lesson ensuring a high level of success for all students, with differentiation to support all learners."

- "Teacher roving during pair share to ensure that she was able to cold call students to respond to questions."

- "Amazing choral response from a large class, demonstrating high levels of consistency and routine."

It was incredibly rewarding to hear these affirmations of our school's dedication to quality teaching and learning. Thank you to all our staff for the effort and passion you bring to your classrooms every day!
