How to be positive about School @ Home
Be positive about your child’s school at home
A parent is a child’s first educator and as such, you can have an enormous impact on your child’s attitude to learning and to school. How you behave at home in your interactions with your child’s school can make a big difference to your child’s experience of their education.
Talk positively about school
Try and talk positively about your child’s school and schooling in general. While it’s natural that there may be some aspects of schooling that you don’t agree with, it’s important to promote the value of education and how going to school can put a person on the right track for succeeding in life.
Be supportive of your child’s teachers
Being supportive of your child’s teachers is one of the best things you can do to support your child’s experience at school. Think of your child’s teacher as your partner and work with them to support your child. Share insights about your child to help your teacher understand them better. Also talk to your child about what a great job their teacher is doing and the importance of teaching in helping to shape the lives of children.
Promote the value of learning
Children watch and copy what parents do and say. Be aware of how you talk about learning and school. Promote the many benefits of an education and the joy that can be gained from learning. Ask your child about what they are learning at school and help them explore what is interesting to them.
Share your own experiences
Talk to your child about how important learning has been in your life. Tell them about your successes and also your mistakes and how you have used difficult experiences to do better next time. Let them know how much you use learning in your daily life and how staying curious and continuing to learn makes life much more interesting.
SPBL - Term 2
At St Anthony's, we focus on School Wide Positive Behaviours for Learning.
Our school expectations are:
- Be Safe
- Be Respectful
- Be Responsible
If all of our students follow our expectations, then what a wonderful place St Anthony's would be! Students are rewarded when staff see them being respectful, responsible or safe, and the student will receive a star stamp on their SPBL card in the classroom. Once the card is complete for each section of Bronze, Silver, Gold and Star, the student will then receive an award. The awards are:

Great Inventions Years 2-6 Presentations
The children were very excited to present inventions they made up or that they have been interested in. On Monday, the parents were invited to see the children's presentations and ask questions about the invention they had presented. Here are some wonderful photos of the students and visitors.
It seems hard to believe that we have come to the end of the first term of St Anthony's Catholic Primary School. And what an eventful term it has been! In speaking to children, parents and teachers, I think the two-week break will be gratefully enjoyed as a time for some rest, some recreation and a more relaxed daily schedule. I pray that every family gets some quality holiday family time together. We look forward to welcoming the children back to school for Term 2 on Monday 28th April.
When I look back at the term calendar, it is easy to see why we all feel like we could use a break. In the past 10 weeks our wonderful school has been involved in: Parent Information Sessions, Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences, Opening School Mass, Ash Wednesday Mass, Celebrating Catholic Schools Week, Family Mass, Four Open Days, Harmony Day, Stage 2 Gala Day, Roosters Tag Gala Day at Burrow's Park, Sacrament of First Holy Communion for Year 3 students, rehearsals for the SCS Eisteddfod, Assemblies, St Patricks Day, Mufti day, Cross Country Trials, Great Inventions presentations, Caritas Project, Parents and Friends meeting, Volunteer Child Protection Sessions and the Easter Prayer Liturgy.
Thank you to the staff who have worked together this term to ensure the very best learning opportunities for our children within our Catholic community.
Blessings,
Marie Iorfino
