Tales From Teaching & Learning

What an amazing Term 1 of learning we have had at KPS! This has, without doubt, been the best start to the year in Teaching and Learning in the history of Keelonith. Our students understand the expectations placed upon them during learning time and they are working hard, using their time well and applying themselves in all areas of the curriculum.

Thank you to the many families who attended our Neighbourhood Information Sessions at the beginning of the year. Feedback was extremely positive from those who attended, and we will look to continue this introduction to the school year in 2026. They were highly successful events to start the year and an important forum for the teaching teams to share what we are doing during the school day.

In this edition of Fly High we would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of a number of students who have been regularly logging onto Math Fact Lab at home and working on their Maths Fluency skills. The following students have progressed 3 or more levels in Maths Fact Lab over the term. They were celebrated at assembly last week and received a certificate to recognise their achievement.

As we come to the end of term and look forward to taking a break over the holidays, it would be fantastic if all families could encourage their children to log onto Numbots (Prep to Year 2) and Math Fact Lab (Year 2 to Year 6) over the holidays to keep practising their numeracy skills. 10 minutes per day will have a huge impact on their ability to master the recall of the facts they are working on. Maintaining reading habits and working with any sound knowledge activities that have been sent home is also really important over the break.

Have a fantastic break and stay safe. We are looking forward to another term packed full of learning in Term 2!
