Principal's Update

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all the wonderful people of our school community. It has been an incredibly busy year but one which has ended on a high night with our Awards Night. It was fantastic to see a wide range of students receiving awards and being recognised for fine efforts and outstanding work both in the classroom and outside of the classroom. I am incredibly proud of our students and our staff and the progress we have made this year towards making our school a safe and welcoming place where everyone can learn and excel. It is a highlight and a privilege for me every day to work with the students and the staff at Mirboo North Secondary College - they are, simply, the best!

We are excited to have several staff returning next year and several new staff. I would like to welcome back, Caroline Tait (Maths), Rosemary Hill (English), and Lisa Benn (Art). We have Nichola Cummaudo joining us to teach English, Humanities, and Business Management. Nicole Ashton is joining us as the Leading Teacher for Teaching and Learning. Nicole is an experienced English teacher, and Carolyne Boothman is also joining us as a Leading Teacher for Inclusion. She is highly experienced in this field.

A final message from the Middle School - on behalf of our Coordinators; Clayton Cupples, Mitch Andrew, Andrea Flake and Keith Kerstjens  .....  M E R R Y  C H R I S T M A S! & wishing you a very restful and safe holiday season.

It has been an absolute pleasure being part of the Mirboo North Community this year, in my first three terms at MNSC. I have been so grateful for the kindness and welcoming nature of the students, parents and colleagues and I am very excited about the years to come - watching our young people thrive and grow. Each year we embrace new challenges and set new goals, and 2024 will be no exception.

To the parents and families of our new Year 7 cohort - welcome - we are really looking forward to our first full  day at MNSC on the 30th January, followed by a super-exciting camp from the 31st until Friday 2nd February ...I cannot wait!

Please take care over the holidays everyone and we will " see you in the Avenue" in 2024!

A Merry Christmas from the Wellbeing and Inclusion teams. This year saw the caring and expertise our wellbeing team support a great number our students through all manner of issues, from family and social difficulties to poor mental health. Our inclusion team has been there patiently supporting students with their learning, in and out of class. The skill and expertise of the learning support staff is a vital component of our school's vision that all students can learn and excel.

As a school we are excited to launch our new XSEL program. This is one period per week learning program for all students that will develop the social and emotional skills of our students. Empowering them to manage their own wellbeing and advocate and support their friends.

We trust that all members of the Mirboo North SC community have a restful and safe holiday and look forward to a great 2024.
