LOTE - Chinese - Term 4

Hello everyone Nihao

As we approach the end of the year, it's time for our final newsletter for 2024 in LOTE Chinese! Let's wrap up the year with enthusiasm and reflection on the wonderful journey we've had together. Here's what the last four weeks hold for each year level:

Prep:

Our Prep students are set for an exciting exploration into the history of kites. They'll not only learn about the origins of these fascinating objects but also have the chance to design, make, and fly their very own kites. Additionally, they'll immerse themselves in the world of Chinese dumplings, discovering the art of making them and even retelling the steps involved. It's a hands-on and engaging conclusion to their term.

Junior School:

Junior School students in Grade 1 and Grade 2 are taking a mindful journey through the colours of an ancient Chinese city. Through a mindfulness activity, they'll express their favourite colours, infusing creativity into their understanding of Chinese culture. To cap off their work in their Chinese books, they'll embark on a vibrant and colourful activity that reflects both their individuality and appreciation for ancient China.

Middle School:

In Middle School, Grade 3 and Grade 4 students are delving into the richness of Chinese cuisine. They'll explore the diverse flavours and dishes, and then channel their creativity into designing their favourite Chinese takeaway boxes. Additionally, they'll have the opportunity to design traditional Chinese dresses, adding an artistic touch to their understanding of Chinese culture. Wrapping up their work in their Chinese books, they'll showcase their newfound knowledge in a visually engaging way.

Senior School:

Senior School students are concluding the year with a powerful creation – a Chinese dragon mask. This special project adds an artistic and cultural dimension to their learning journey. Engaging in a game activity, they'll put their knowledge to the test by guessing different countries with emojis, adding a fun and interactive element to their global awareness. They'll also delve into the UN Sustainable Development Goals, connecting their learning to broader issues of global significance.

As we wrap up this term and the year, I want to express my appreciation for the dedication and enthusiasm of our students. It has been a year filled with exploration, cultural appreciation, and language mastery. I look forward to continuing this wonderful journey with you in the coming year.

Best Regards,

Likai Lin
