Year 8 Commerce Shark Tank

The Year 8 Commerce Shark Tank finalists presented their creative and entrepreneurial business concepts in the Draney Theatre on Thursday 16 November to all Year 8 Commerce students and teachers, and two of our Marist parents who were our ‘Sharks’,  Dr Kieren Moffat is CEO and Co-Founder of Voconiq; and Dr Michael Thorpe, who has extensive business experience in dental, food and hairdressing industries. We thank these parents for their generosity of time and for sharing their business experience with the boys. We would like to congratulate the winning group ‘Detecta’ from 8.3 Commerce: William Stigter, Addie Mills, Gus McLean, Addison Harman and Blake Guest. They presented the winning business concept of a smart smoke detector with light, speaker and air quality measuring capabilities. Well done boys!

Congratulations also to the People’s Choice winners, B.W.C Glasses, presenting their idea of sunglasses with built-in security from 8.5 Commerce: Shehan Tennison, Callum Curtin, Sammy Plumb and Sam Wheeley.

  • Safe Paws – 8.9 Commerce: Matthew Travers, Alex Arcus-Simpson, Archie Edwards, Dusty Miller, Kiedis Shepherd

Thank you to the 8 Commerce teachers and support staff for your tireless efforts in preparing the boys and organising the Shark Tank event which has been a valuable learning experience in entrepreneurship for the boys.
