Holy Saviour School Bulletin

Dear Families,

What a week! It is a scary thought to think that the students only have 14 school days left in the 2023 school year.  Yet there is so much yet to do and accomplish.  It is important that as a community we keep on encouraging each other with positivity and calm so that our year end is memorable for all the right reasons. Just a reminder to everyone that next Friday 1st December is a school closure day, students are not to attend school.

Catholic Education Hub for Vermont & Vermont South

Thank you to those families who were able to attend our parent information session on Wednesday evening. As I have said to many of you on many different occasions that when I have something to share with you that I would do so as quickly as possible. Following the announcement of the closure of 4 Catholic Primary schools last term, I wrote to the Executive Director of MACS, on your behalf, seeking clarity regarding the future direction of Holy Saviour. I received a response to this letter and the past 5 weeks have been an absolute whirlwind with 7 different meetings with key stakeholders in this time, including one during camp last week which I made sure I attended in person. I’m not telling you all this to blow my own trumpet or get a pat on the back, I just want to paint a picture of the work that has been done to get to where we are today.

There is still a lot of work to be done over the remaining weeks of this term, and a whole lot more work to be done in 2024. Importantly, we will keep you updated every step of the way, including regular communications and meetings. As always, I am available should you wish to discuss anything. Please find attached a copy of the letter that was sent home Wednesday evening.

MACS Christmas campaign

Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) is excited to be launching a Christmas campaign in December. The focus of the campaign will be on giving the biggest thanks possible to our amazing teachers.

To make the campaign more special, students have the chance to be part of it. MACS has created an online form at www.macsbiggestthanks.com, where students can write a message of thanks to the teacher who has helped them to flourish, whether by igniting their passion in a certain subject or by inspiring them to believe in  themselves.

Not only will the messages of thanks be shared with teachers, but some of the students’ messages will appear on billboards around Melbourne and in future communications. We need parent/carer/guardian consent in the online form to give students the chance of having their message used in this way.

The form will be open until Friday 1 December. We look forward to seeing the messages of joy and positivity from students as we celebrate our wonderful teachers this Christmas.
