Prep News

In Maths this Term, the students have been learning about money, including the different types of Australian coins.

On Wednesday, 30th of November, we celebrated our Shopping Day! The students worked in groups of 2-4 to create a small market stall selling an item. The items were all fantastically made at school, including paper wands, Christmas cards, paper chains, paper planes, and more!

The students had a great time running their stall, as well as spending their money (fake, of course!). It was a brilliant day and a fun way activity to celebrate Maths at NLPS.

Movement Incursion

This week the Preps enjoyed participating in a movement incursion facilitated by Michelle Kotvas. For 30 minutes, students explored the many ways their bodies can bend and stretch and discussed the benefits of staying active. We wrapped up the sessions with some mindfulness exercises to practise calming down after rigorous movement.

Year 5/6 News

On the 1st December the Year 5 students all brought their bikes to school for the first session of bike Education.

There were 8 groups and 8 activities that were all on and improving bike riding skills for the big ride on Wednesday the 13th December where we will ride our bikes around the local area of Newport and Williamstown.

The 8 activities were on practising road rules, balance and confidence on your bike before the 1st lesson you and your partner would check each others safety by making sure your brakes, handlebars, tires, helmet safety and gears before the start of the 8 activities.

On day 1 students were split into 6 groups based on their skill level 1 being the lowest and 6 being the highest then we would choose a partner in your group.

We all had a wonderful time!
