Ethics Olympiad
This term St Philip's entered a team to participate in the Australia wide Ethics Olympiad.
Bridie Hayward, Isabella Martinez, Eunice Tabbada, Charotte McArthur and Thomas Anderson represented the school against twenty other teams. At the Olympiad, students are in training for excellence in ethical thinking. Unlike debating, students can take the position they want at an Ethics Olympiad. They work as a team, with teams from other schools to come up with the best possible answer to difficult ethical questions.
During the day all students were involved in a series of four heats where they were scored according to set criteria that rewards, clear, concise, respectful discourse around interesting ethical cases.
St Philip's came 4th overall with the students learning and improving every round discussing things like cash incentives, whether lying is ever okay, and virtual worlds vs reality.
Keep your eyes peeled for next year's opportunity.
