Specialist Feature News: Science

Selamat Siang,

As we wrap up our first year in Science, we are thrilled to look back on all the wonderful things we have achieved this year. From introducing Science as a specialist subject to students, to rolling out a plethora of engaging subjects and whacky experiments. We have had such a ball!

As the term comes to a close, Foundation students are completing their unit on living and growing plants. This week, we looked into the purpose of root systems in plants.

1/2 students have continued their observations of insects and spiders. After a quiet start, our sea monkey class pets have grown a lot and our 1/2s are enjoying observing and recording their change over time.

3/4 students have been practising using scientific skills. They collected data on indigenous plant species and contrasted these with introduced species in our school. They used tally marks to record and converted this information into graphs.

5/6 students presented their debates on the topic “We should bring back extinct species”. They used research skills, teamwork and of course, humour to entertain their classmates. Well done 5/6 students.

Finally, congratulations to Sarah for leading a very successful Christmas Concert and to all of our talented students on their performances.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Terima Kasih,
